On the Right Traxx
|
August 1, 2006 - Through a competitive statewide grant, ProTraxx partnered
with ACES in an 82-school consortium effort involving three districts to
improve student achievement through enhanced professional development tracking.
The project, On the Right Traxx: Improved Student Achievement through Enhanced
Professional Development Planning, was launched in September of 2004 and included
the ACES magnet schools, as well as the public school districts of New Haven,
North Haven and Hamden. This May marked the conclusion of the 17-month long
implementation and launch.
With both the school districts and the RESC’s operational needs to be considered,
ProTraxx worked with project manager Joanne Manginelli, and ACES team members Dee
Colson and Mary Lou Caruso of ACES to design and deploy a fully integrated
public portal that complements the functionality of the EzTraxx application.
This new module allows for the online registration, enrollment, enrollment
management and payment tracking associated with activities offered. In
addition, the financial tracking tools required by administrators were
added to the EzTraxx application to facilitate processes.
Each of the RESCs schools, as well as the administrative staffs of
New Haven, North Haven and Hamden, continue to utilize the EzTraxx
module to plan and Each of the RESCs schools, as well as the
administrative staffs of New Haven, North Haven and Hamden,
continue to utilize the EzTraxx module to plan and promote
activities to their staff. EzCatalog is now fully integrated
with the ACES public website and provides a familiar environment
and a single user name and password login to member districts as
well as an easy enrollment site for the general population.
The most significant initial benefits of the project included the
regular use of technology by all staff as well as the cleansing of the
massive amounts of data that were initially uploaded to the system.
Providing a view of stored data to each staff member has helped to
ensure its accuracy and quickly remedy any discrepancies. The
creation of the Universal Transcript will continue to simplify
tracking for every educator. This transcript incorporates all
participation at any ProTraxx client site into one document,
eliminating the need to complete CEU equivalent forms and duplicate
data entry. Each educator now has immediate access to their certification
requirements related to their endorsements, goals of the district, and
available programs, both in-house and those offered regionally at ACES.
Tracking progress is right at their fingertips while district-wide
alignment is dramatically improved and has become a virtually paperless process.
Now that the systems have been operational for over a year, a
substantial databank of history is available to begin data mining.
ProTraxx is excited about the new data mining work being done at
ACES managed by Andrea Hartman. Using an export from the EzTraxx
database, Hamden’s staff data is being combined with student
information in the Tetra data warehouse for the first time. The resulting
reporting should provide a more complete picture of the link between
student performance and teacher preparedness.
