Unconscious Bias - Franklin Covey - 2 day
Fall 2023
Every day, your people are faced with countless bits of information while making decisions that range from the pragmatic to the strategic. As they confront more and more information and have to act quickly while considering varying perspectives, your leaders and team members are primed to rely on biased thinking called unconscious bias.Unconscious biases are how our brains compensate for overload which can inhibit performance and lead to poor decision-making. Helping your leaders and team members address bias will let them thrive, increasing performance across your entire organization.
Learning Outcomes: (appears on the evaluation form):
IDENTIFY BIAS - Recognize the impact of bias on behaviors, decisions, and performance.CULTIVATE CONNECTION - Increase empathy and curiosity in personal interactions to surface and explore bias.CHOOSE COURAGE - Explore ways to face bias with courage and create the space where everyone is respected, included, and valued.
Rationale for Providing this Professional Learning Experience
PCS Strategic Plan - Objective 1: Decrease the number of exclusionary discipline practices by subgroups (suspensions and expulsions).STRATEGY 3 - Develop a curricular framework for training in implicit bias and culturally responsive teaching.* Train 100% of staff on culturally responsiveness and implicit bias with initial training for new staff & refresher training for returning staff.
