Peer Recovery Coach Training ReNew Recovery Cafe
Runs 5 Mondays Beginning June 23
Peer Recovery Coaches possess powerful experiential knowledge that can aid others in initiating and sustaining recovery. This course is designed to harness the power of experiential knowledge and combine it with research and knowledge to provide the necessary skills to become an effective and ethical recovery coach. Participants will gain a strong foundation for the roles of a peer recovery coach and how the roles are different from other traditional and existing support methods. Participants will be introduced to the many concepts and skills involved in effective recovery coaching and prepare them for professional roles to serve their communities as peer support advocates.
Objectives (appears on the evaluation form):
• Learn about Peer Delivery service and why it's gaining traction throughout the world.• Gain a foundational understanding of addiction and the brain.• Understand common behaviors of addiction.• Learn foundational skills of active listening and motivational interviewing.• Learn and clarify roles of a recovery coach and understand staying in lane.•Gain an understanding of what recovery coaching is.• Gain an understanding of stages of change and stages of recovery.• Understand solution-focused engagement.• Learn how to discuss reuse prevention plans.• Understand the importance of SMART Goals setting with recoverees.• Gain an understanding of Harm Reduction.• Learn about the importance of self-care, compassion fatigue & burnout
Who is this training for?
This training is for individuals looking to enter the peer recovery workforce or implement peer service delivery strategies into their current service deliver model. This course is also for individual seeking to learn more about Substance Use Disorder.
