M211: Improv: The Essence of Education & Self Reflection
In the need to develop and roll out our curriculum, the concept of being our whole self is mandatory, yet often difficult to maintain. In this session we will utilize the roots of improv. Through its performance & structural supports, both comedic & dramatic, to facilitate your performance as a teacher! You know when you plan a perfect lesson, and then a student shows up hungry, another has an emergency 504, fight breaks out, you forgot to pack your lunch, etc. This is aimed at teachers & admin who want to avoid the burnout midyear in the freezing cold of January and maintain a healthy & productive work/life balance. Teachers are improvisers. The best sort. Let's lean into that & you'll leave with some tools to maintain that joy that made you go into this career in the first place! Please bring pen & notebook as well as some color utensils.
