AU Monthly Professional Development
Each month of the 2022-23 school year, professional development opportunities designed for teachers of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder are offered. These Professional Development sessions are also open to administrators, paraprofessionals, regular education teachers and direct/related service staff.
Objectives
Teachers who work with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in all settings will:- Explore more deeply Classroom Management and Supplemental Materials that are designed to support students.- Explore evidence-based strategies for teaching appropriate behaviors and address challenging behaviors.- Learn how to write and implement Social Stories.- Learn how to address sensory needs of students in the classroom.- Explore transition planning and life after school.
Rationale for Providing this Professional Learning Experience
To build capacity within the district and schools to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
