(ATDN) CCRS Math Classroom Implementation
Are you ready to plan a lesson aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) for Mathematics? No, this does not mean writing standards codes on existing lesson plans. Gather a lesson spark (a resource, a few book pages, a web resource, an activity, an existing lesson that needs alignment) - any idea that you might start lesson planning from.

In this session, you will use your idea, prompts, conversation and space during the workshop to populate a lesson plan template. Through this, you will develop a deeper understanding of how lesson elements align with the Key Instructional Shifts, Standards for Mathematical Practice, and content standards.

Participants should strongly consider taking either of the CT Mathematics Lesson Plan Template sessions (Memorable Messages or Be Your Own Boss) before participating in this session.

Objectives
After participating in this session, you will be able to:
  • Identify a lesson topic your students need
  • Discuss how the CCRS and the CT Mathematics Lesson Plan Template can help your students learn and then generalize content
  • Use the lesson plan template to develop a lesson plan aligned with the CCRS
  • Teach the lesson to your students
  • Follow up with an accountability “buddy” (a fellow participant)
  • Follow-up coaching for your implementation plan is available by request
