Mindfulness and Recovery Coaching
Kevin Diakiw and Shelley Shadow of Still Here will facilitate a discussion on Mindfulness and its importance in Recovery Coaching on January 9, 2023 at 1:00-3:00 PM (EST)One of the critical aspects of recovery coaching is the ability to form a relationship. This may involve:• active listening, becoming deeply involved in the stories that are being told to us • hearing with non-judgement, empathy and compassion• being aware of the emotional landscape that may be occurring within ourselves • tapping deeply into our own intuition• hearing not only what’s being said but also what’s not being saidThese are just some of the benefits a mindfulness practice may offer as recovery coaches.
Objectives
Participants will:• Learn what mindfulness is and its importance to recovery coaching.• Practice mindfulness in a brief practice, as well as practice active listening in pairs exercise. • Demonstrate a working knowledge of mindfulness.• Express how mind-wandering negatively affects their recovery coaching sessions.• Detail and practice methods for reducing mind-wandering.
