Initial Crisis Prevention Training
Initial Training for Crisis Prevention Institute
This training is designed for any teachers / administrators with students in their buildings / classrooms that exhibit extreme behaviors. It focuses on how to de-escalate the behavior BEFORE it becomes harmful. The training focuses on deescalating students who are in crisis through verbal and nonverbal techniques. CPI is a training that focuses on a positive drive, and helps the staff to learn and understand that it's our "attitude" that effects how we respond to a crisis as well as how students in crisis responds to staff. Staff will learn what is natural, and what is appropriate.(Includes, postvention & personal safety techniques such as learning how to block & deflect objects & how to release from grabs. There will be Disengagement Skills / Personal Safety skills taught as part of this course. CHILD RESTRAINTS will be optional. Estimated training time 12 hrs. Principals will be responsible for substitutes if needed for you to attend this training.
Objectives
1. Learn how to effectively de-escalate students with behavioral challenges. 2. To identify different behavioral levels in students and how to appropriately respond. 3. Learn disengagement and holding skills to execute safely for students who behavioral challenges. 4.To understand the appropriate way to engage with students who may be challenged with precipitating factors. 5.Learn how to rationally detach after a crisis.

To provide care, welfare, safety and security by executing organizational policies and procedures, relevant legal and regulatory frameworks and professional standards for best practice.
