Using the EQuIP Rubric to Examine Next Generation Science Lessons and Units
Completing this professional learning will provide science educators with the processes and procedures necessary to use the EQuIP Rubric to review science lessons and units, to provide effective feedback and suggestions for improvement to developers of these instructional materials, to identify model or exemplar lessons and units, and to inform the development of new instructional materials.
Objectives
Participants will•revisit of the Framework for K–12 Science Education•understand the structure of Performance Expectations•experience three-dimensional Learning•be introduced to the EQuIP Rubric•gain an understanding of Feedback, Evaluation, and Guidance in regard to the EQuIP•determine lesson/unit alignment to the NGSS•understand the importance of Coherence and Connections in NGSS lessons and units•identify instructional supports aligned to NGSS•understand the prerequisites for monitoring student progress
