CREC’s Next Generation Science Curriculum Consortium
Curriculum Writing Consortium - Grade 9
CREC’s Next Generation Science Curriculum Consortium provides a forum for teachers from all over the CREC region to share in the creativity of developing three-dimensional NGSS-aligned curricula anchored in phenomena. During the initial grade-level meeting, participants will be trained to develop story-lined curricula using the CREC NGSS Curriculum Development App. Each of the remaining consortium meeting dates will be facilitated curriculum development time. Each date will have a specific (DCI) focus. Each curricular document generated will be reviewed, assessed using the EQuIP rubric, and edited prior to posting for classroom/district use. Each participant’s school will be granted an access code to all of the grade specific curricular documents generated in the consortium. Up to 12 NGSS-aligned units will be developed for each of the grade-levels and shared. Grade nine curricula will follow the science domain model course map, Appendix K of the Next Generation Science Standards. The focus for the grade 9 will be physical science.
Objectives
Participants will:•be trained in the CREC NGSS Curriculum writing App;•works with other grade-specific teachers from around CREC region to generate NGSS-aligned units;•have access to all curricular units developed in their grade level consortium.
