Three-Dimensional Lesson Planning for the Next Generation Science Standards
Classrooms implementing the Next Generation Science Standards engage students in science and engineering practices to develop understandings of core ideas with crosscutting concepts that enable them to explain phenomena and solve problems. This workshop will explore how these three dimensions of the Standards impact classrooms and how the BSCS 5E Instructional Model can support shifting instruction and assessment practices. Participants will develop an understanding of the BSCS 5E Instructional Model through hands-on experience with sample instructional strategies. Participants will receive a lesson planning template and learn to write three dimensional lesson objectives, identify lesson level phenomena, and evaluate assessment practices.
