Implementing a Math Workshop Model in a Secondary Math Classroom
More and more middle school math teachers are realizing the benefits of small group instruction. In this full-day session, math educators in grades 5-8 will explore how a workshop model and guided math strategies can support the Connecticut Core content and process standards, while meeting the needs of all learners. Participants will gain a greater understanding of centers, rotations, stations and guided math. We will examine how to structure your lessons, set up your classroom, establish routines, and create materials to support this type of differentiated instruction. .
Objectives
1) Participants will learn how to use the workshop model to meet the needs of all learners. 2) Participants will learn how Math centers/stations/rotations/workshops in the 5-8 Math classroom can support the Connecticut Core content and process standards, while meeting the needs of all learners.
