Privilege: Who Has It?
How Does It Affect Relationships among Students, Families, Teachers, and Leaders?
During this workshop, participants will explore the meaning, history, and political implications of privilege in the United States, and how privilege impacts students, families, teachers and leaders. Because of recent national events and the US history of slavery, we will explore privilege as it relates to race. We will also examine how privilege relates to gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability, language, and national origin. Participants will leave this workshop with a deeper understanding of privilege and its impact on teaching and learning.
Objectives
Participants will learn what white priviledge is, and how it affects us all.
