Building Math Rigor -Focus on Problem Solving and Reasoning
For Grades 3-8
Two critical areas our students need to develop are their ability to solve multi-step math word problems and their ability to reason about mathematics. This workshop will present several strategies, easily replicated by a classroom instructor. Participants will engage in several activities that will move their students towards improved problem solving and reasoning. See these activities today – do them tomorrow with your students!
Objectives
Participants will: 1.)Develop an awareness about practices that build academic rigor and engage students 2.)Improve their understanding of problem solving and math reasoning
