Moving English Language Learners (ELLs) from Oral Storytelling to Picture Book Writing- Grades K-5
The workshop will support educators who are working with or have a large ELL population at their school or in their district and are supporting students with writing. Teachers who attend this workshop may be new to writing workshop and are looking for ways to support ELL students within a writing worshop classroom. The session will give educators various ways to build oral fluency, listening comprehension, use Las Links’ writing subtest assessment scores, interactive writing methods and writing workshop approach and resources to engage student writers to oral rehearse and increase their written volume across pages in a booklet.
Objectives
Upon completion of the day long workshop, participants will have a toolkit of resources and strategies to begin implementing an engaging writing workshop that supports English Language Learners and that builds independent writers.
