A Mini-Series with Maggie Beattie Roberts
Come join our four day mini-series with author and national presenter Maggie Beattie Roberts. The mini-series will cover topics on: book clubs, conferring, small group instruction, genre study planning and assessment. These days will offer participants the opportunity to integrate essential supports in reading and writing workshop that provide engagement, opportunities for student collaboration and talk, planning mini-lessons, and on-going assessment. Each session will be designed to offer practical ways to establish routines and structures, management and delivery of instruction, assessment, and other practical ways to anchor student learning. The session topics will cover: Session One: Book Clubs; Session Two: Small Group Instruction; Session Three: Conferring; Session Four: Genre Study Planning and Assessment.
Objectives
These days will offer participants the opportunity to integrate essential supports in reading and writing workshop that provide engagement opportunities for student collaboration and talk, planning mini-lessons, and on-going assessment. Each session will be designed to offer practical ways to establish routines and structures, management and delivery of instruction, assessment, and other practical ways to anchor student learning. There will be time in the day for you to work on your unit alone or in the company of colleagues. The open work spaces will provide time to apply new learning, offer individualized support, and seek resources for texts, strategies or teaching tools.
