Catalyzing Change in High School Mathematics; Initiating Critical Conversations
Mathematics education at the high school level is part of a complex system of policies, traditions, and societal expectations. This workshop will engage all individuals with a stake in high school mathematics in the critical conversations that must take place to bring about and give support to necessary changes. Participants of this workshop will take part in activities that will help facilitate the critical conversations around the following topics in high school mathematics: Essential Concepts, Tracking, Instructional Practices, and High School Mathematics Pathways. For maximum benefit, it is recommended that districts send a team of key stakeholders. Participants will leave the workshop with the action steps necessary to initiate a conversation around changes in high school mathematics.
