An Autism Behavior Toolkit for Teachers: Tips and Tricks that Work When Educating Elementary Students on the Autism Spectrum
In this half-day workshop, participants will learn strategies that they can incorporate into their classrooms immediately to support the academic and behavioral needs of students with ASD. The workshop is designed for general education and special education teachers that have students in their classrooms with ASD. We will cover strategies to support transitions, common behavior issues, sensory needs of students with ASD and much more. Participants will learn: sensory strategies to prevent common behaviors presented by students with ASD; strategies to support transitions in and out of the classroom for students with ASD; and proactive strategies to prevent challenging behaviors before they occur.

Things to know -

  • Workshop registration does not include breakfast or lunch. Please feel free to bring your own food and beverage or visit the CREC Central Café (111 Charter Oak Ave.) which offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options with daily specials.
  • Bring a refillable water bottle and/or beverage.
  • Bring a laptop or other electronic device (some workshops require only laptop) for note taking and access to online resources.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the workshop.
  • Sometimes workshop room temperatures can vary so we suggest you dress in layers.
  • Please check the CREC website or your local TV station for any delay/closing information.
