“No, you can’t use Google Translate”: Teaching World Language in the 1:1 Classroom

Teaching World Language to ‘Digital Natives’ brings many challenges, Google Translate is just one of them. With the whole world at their fingertips, who can we guide students in their journey to master another language. Participants in this half-day session will learn strategies to make effective use of chromebooks/laptops in the 1:1 classroom to teach WL in a student-centered manner.

Things to know -

·   Workshop registration does not include breakfast or lunch. Please feel free to bring your own food and beverage or visit the CREC Central Café (111 Charter Oak Ave.) which offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options with daily specials.

·   Bring a refillable water bottle and/or beverage.

·   Bring a laptop or other electronic device (some workshops require only laptop) for note taking and access to online resources.

·   Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the workshop.

·   Sometimes workshop room temperatures can vary so we suggest you dress in layers.

·   Please check the CREC website or your local TV station for any delay/closing information.
