COMPASS Basic Module Training for Paraeducators (3-Day Training)
Paraeducators are critical to providing the best supportive educational environment for students. During this three-day training, we will discuss the important role of paraeducators in the classroom and how they can have the most significant impact. Day 1: Roles and Responsibilities and Communication: AM Session: Roles and Responsibilities will provide the paraeducator with defined roles that they play in the educational setting. PM Session: Paraeducators will explore various aspects of collaboration and communication as a partner on the educational team. Day 2: Managing Behavior and Ethics and Legal Issues AM Session: Paraeducators will be provided with strategies for managing and supporting student behaviors in a small group, large group, and one-to-one learning situations. PM Session: Paraeducators will examine the laws and regulations related to special education, confidentiality, and school-based practices. Day 3: Instructional Strategies During the full day session, Paraeducators will be provided with support on various instructional strategy processes that can be used across content areas and learning tasks.

Workshop registration does not include breakfast or lunch. Please feel free to bring your own food and beverage or visit the CREC Central Café (111 Charter Oak Ave.) which offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options with daily specials.
Bring a refillable water bottle and/or beverage.
Bring a laptop or other electronic device (some workshops require only laptop) for note taking and access to online resources.
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the workshop.
Sometimes workshop room temperatures can vary so we suggest you dress in layers.
