Choosing Complex Texts in Early Childhood
Children’s Literature: What is a Complex Text and Why?Description: This workshop will focus on complex texts in children’s literature, what to look for, how to choose them, and why they are important. As early childhood educators we want to select books to engage young children to think deeply about the stories they hear, which will support children in developing book appreciation and knowledge.Participants in this workshop will be able to; Understand the elements of a complex text; Explain the reasons why complex texts are used in the ECE classroom; Use new knowledge to identify the features of a complex text.
