IM 3-5 Leveraging the Problem-Based Lesson Structure

Now that teachers have had some experience teaching with IM, how can they deepen their understanding of the problem-based lesson structure, their role in student learning, and bringing activities to life with students? This session will address common challenges and concerns in IM implementation.

Objectives
LEARNING GOALS: 1) Recognize how the embedded problem-based lesson structure supports teachers in making decisions that promote access to important mathematical ideas. 2) Identify teacher moves that leverage a diverse set of student ideas to cultivate students’ pride in knowing and doing mathematics. 3) Increase access to mathematical ideas for all students.
