Ethics trainings are not all created equal. Recovery coaches need an understanding of ethics that differs from those of clinicians due to their unique role while guiding someone through their own recovery process. Recovery coaching as a peer-to-peer recovery support service has grown exponentially over the past few years. Ethical considerations have been discussed in many circles, yet formal training has been lacking for recovery coaches. This 16-hour training addresses this critical need. Based on the widely used Ethical Guidelines for the Delivery of Peer-based Recovery Support Services by William White and PROACT (2007), we designed this training to help coaches and anyone else working in the peer role, to understand how critical it is to be ethically responsible. Using presentations, small group work, and role play to address many areas, including defining the coaching service role and functions, coaching standards, issues of vulnerability, ethical decision-making, performance enhancement, and legal issues. This educational program is approved by NAADAC #195293.

This five-day, 30-hour training is an intense, immersive experience designed to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary to support people in recovery effectively. RCAC 30 is not a passive learning experience. It is emotionally and mentally demanding, calling individuals to be fully present throughout the week. The training encourages deep personal reflection, challenges assumptions, and fosters the type of honest, courageous conversations that define impactful Recovery Coaching.
Coaches will explore what it truly means to walk alongside someone in recovery, offering support without fixing, empowering without directing, and connecting without judgment. This course is as much about personal growth as it is about professional skill-building. By the end, individuals will not only understand the core principles of Recovery Coaching, but also have experienced the kind of presence, resilience, and self-awareness that effective coaching requires.

Now that recovery coaches are recognized as having a profound impact on recovery, many more organizations are looking to hire coaches. Coaches who can easily demonstrate professionalism may quickly assimilate into these new, exciting employment opportunities. CCAR Training is dedicated to building training programs to support this movement so that coaches can regularly refine their craft of actively listening, asking good questions, and managing their own stuff. These high standards of excellence for our training programs and expectations of what we feel makes good recovery coaches. Typically, you’d find recovery coaches at your local recovery community centers, but, now we are seeing a greater need for skilled coaches in professional settings, such as to work in other hospitals, treatment facilities, police stations, and court systems. Recovery coaching is growing as a profession due to its effectiveness in not only helping people find recovery, but staying in recovery. We see coaches deployed in a wide variety of settings. As such, coaches are supervised by a wide range of positio and not everyone who is overseeing the coaches understands fully the unique nature of the role. We hope you will join us for what we believe is a model for oversight that resonates most with the role of the coach – aptly named Coachervision. Based on the concept of “coaching coaches,” this workshop will provide participants with an understanding of how to best support coaches day-to-day and develop coaches for long-term success. This training is based on our flagship training, the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy©. This curriculum provides a basic, introductory version of recovery coaching to meet the needs of those who want a general understanding of the recovery process to understand better and support the recovery of their loved ones, friends, and colleagues. Although we believe our five-day curriculum is the preferred vehicle to learn about this important role, we realize that not everyone wants to become a recovery coach or has the time needed for that type of endeavor. We hope many of your questions about recovery and the recovery process will be answered. Much like the recovery journey, this training provides an emotionally rich experience combined with skills and techniques for real-life application. Whether you use it to improve your relationships with those in or seeking recovery or apply it to your recovery… you will be transformed. This educational program is approved by NAADAC #195293.
