SY 2022-2023 Coaching Series to Facilitate District Creation of a Plan to Increase Educator Diversity
The RESC Alliance is proud to support school districts and organizations as they develop district plans to increase the racial, ethnic, and linguistic diversity of their teacher and leader workforce. Three coaching sessions will be provided during the 2022-2023 school year at Cooperative Educational Services (CES). Each three-hour session will support the district’s utilization of the processes, tools, and resources within the Connecticut State Department of Education’s Guidebook for Hiring and Selection to develop a comprehensive plan to attract, recruit, support, and sustain educators of color.

Interested school districts are asked to identify teams to participate in this work. Teams should include 3-8 members who are district and/or building level employees involved at any stage of the hiring process. Members can include administrators, human resources and DEI staff, teachers who are part of the interview process, BOE members, community partners, and anyone invested in this work.

In addition to attending the sessions outlined below, teams should plan to complete approximately 90 minutes of in-district work prior to attending each session. This in-district work will help facilitate teams’ examination of every phase of the selection and hiring processes to root out the potential for bias.
