ADOS-2 Refresher - Module 3 - April 2, 2024
This training session will offer a refresher for Module 3 of the ADOS-2, for individuals who have already completed the full comprehensive ADOS-2 training. The session will be a combination of opportunities provided fully online with a blend of asynchronous and live training opportunities. Research suggests that users of the ADOS-2 benefit from periodic practice and re-calibration of coding. Unless you are administering the ADOS-2 frequently (defined as several times per week), it is likely that your coding decisions will drift over time. Frequent ADOS-2 users and trainers calibrate often to maintain reliability with the coding process. The workshop will be presented in a blended learning model with didactic information offered via an online learning platform as well as live (remote via zoom) viewing of an ADOS-2 administration, time to complete your coding decisions, and a group review of the coding to compare with the individual that administered the ADOS-2 in the video. It is expected that you have access to an ADOS-2 kit, manual, and a Module 3 protocol. Prior to the live session, participants are expected to review information in the online course, retrieve the ADOS-2 Manual and protocol booklet, review the corresponding section of the manual, as well as review notes recorded during prior training sessions, and view 1-2 hours of video reviews of ADOS-2 tasks (as needed) and coding items (recommended). Before registering, please read the full training information in the document attached at the end of this session information. You will receive additional details about accessing the course materials.

Promoting Neurodiversity Awareness in ABA Practice: Bridging Perspectives
Neurodiversity is a concept that recognizes the unique strengths and perspectives of individuals, regardless of their neurological differences. ABA is a scientific and evidence-based approach used to understand and modify behavior and develop skills, often through systematic assessment, structured interventions, and data collection. Both approaches aim to enhance the lives of neurodiverse individuals, with neurodiversity valuing autonomy and diversity, and ABA focusing on behavior change and skill development. This workshop goes beyond the basics to offer you an immersive exploration of the neurodiversity paradigm and its significance in ABA practice. We will explore the potential divergences between conventional ABA approaches and neurodiversity principles while equipping you with practical skills to bridge these perspectives.

Thinking Beyond the Core Four: Trauma-Informed FBAs
Functional behavior assessments are traditionally anchored in the “core four” functions of escape, attention-seeking, access, and/or sensory attenuation, and focus on extrinsic variables in the environment that reinforce student behavior. Trauma responses often result in a student demonstrating behaviors that are automatic and/or not explicitly connected to the current environment, which can make ABC data challenging to collect and/or interpret. This training seeks to expand our thinking of the “core four,” and consider the interplay between both intrinsic and extrinsic variables. Participants will learn the six principles of trauma-informed care, and begin to identify ways to apply this framework to the FBA process, whether in the information gathering, data collection or reporting phase. 2 Learning CEUs will be available for BCBA participants
