EdTech (un)Conference
Be Inspired. Share Ideas. Build Relationships.

Sponsored by the LEARN EdTech Meetup

An (un)Conference is a meeting where the attendees suggest and vote on the agenda at the beginning of the event. The only framework we are putting around this is that topics must be about edtech or education along with a general structure of the day.

You provide the ideas. We provide coffee and 6 fully-equipped meeting rooms. Newsela will provide lunch!

General Structure for the Day:
- Whole-group Welcome & Introductions
- Scheduling– setting the agenda for the day
- Attendee-led breakout sessions
- Lunch (sponsored by Newsela)
- Attendee-led breakout sessions
- Whole group gathering and sharing

Anyone who wants to suggest or lead a session can. These can range from a formal, well-planned session to the very informal where someone discusses an idea that just occurred to them or debates a fresh topic.

Session Formats: Sessions can take any format, but more often than not they fall into the following categories:
- Teaching / Training – peer-to-peer learning on a practical or theoretical basis
- Discussion / Debate
- Talk/Lecture – outline an idea or piece of research
- Show and Tell – project/demo
- Answering a Question or Resolving a Problem
- Thrashing out a new idea

Attendees can wander freely between the discussions.

For questions, including registration assistance, send an email to fpacheco@learn.k12.ct.us – include EdTech Unconference” in the subject line.

Each session is comprised of two 2-hour virtual classes, Foundational Knowledge and Job Discovery. Additionally, optional asynchronous activities are available to participants interested in learning more about CE. This training is free, virtual, and hosted through Zoom. All materials will be made available in Canvas, a learning management system, and the link will be sent after you are registered. Introduction to Customized Employment in CT
The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE), in collaboration with the RESC Alliance, is sponsoring an Introduction to Customized Employment (CE) in CT training for special education teachers, providers, and administrators working with transition-age students with disabilities. These sessions are designed to increase capacity and a shared understanding of the CE process in CT, which may lead to competitive integrated employment, for students with the most significant disabilities. Participants will understand the components of CE (e.g., Foundational Knowledge, Job Discovery, Job Development, Post-Employment Support), become familiar with the job discovery process, and learn how special education transition services and activities, as identified on a student’s IEP, could be aligned to and support CE job discovery activities. Please register for a session that you can attend both virtual classes. Registrants will receive access to the Zoom link approximately one day prior to the first session. For questions, including registration assistance, send an email to smoon@learn.k12.ct.us or fpacheco@learn.k12.ct.us – include “Introduction to Customized Employment” in the subject line.
