Moving from Compliance to Coherence - Aligning Student and Educator Goals and Practices
Developing a shared vision of aligned educational goals, supportive instruction and professional learning is essential to a building a system that can support effective teaching and improved student outcomes. This second annual conference will build on last year’s conference by providing districts with the opportunity to learn from and engage with one another in sharing successful practices for creating meaningful and coherent opportunities to align student and educator goals that lead to enhanced instruction and help educators and their students meet more rigorous learning expectations. Sessions will address connecting goals for learning, evidence of learning, and promising practices at the classroom, school and professional levels.
Objectives
Conference Strands: •Student Improvement- - Sessions in this strand will focus on goals, practices, or measures that have an impact on student learning and engagement. Special attention will be paid to specific strategies for increasing rigor, implementing higher-order thinking, enhancing student engagement in the learning process, and aligning instruction with core standards and other education initiatives. •Professional Improvement- Sessions in this strand will focus on educator goals, practices, measures or strategies that support instructional quality in a manner consistent with one or more of Connecticut's Standards for Professional Learning. Special attention will be paid to specific professional learning strategies connected to improved student performance/engagement and aligned with one or more professional learning standards.
