Mindfulness Council - Connecting to Ourselves to Connect with Others
In each interaction with children, we are teaching, modeling and wiring their brains for social and emotional competence. So how can we bring our best self to these interactions and apply mindfulness in our relationships? In this session we will explore ways to practice mindful pausing in the midst of our busy days; to step back, connect to our center, gain perspective on our thoughts and feelings, and interact intentionally. With this connection to ourselves, we will then consider how mindfulness can support us to understand and connect most effectively with students. Through a series of practical, experiential exercises, we will explore how mindfulness can be applied in the school setting to cultivate more calm, connected, and effective relationships.
