Early Childhood Literacy for Children with Significant Disabilities
This workshop will provide information on the development of literacy skills for young children with significant disabilities including students with cognitive disabilities, multiple disabilities, and complex communication needs. The following areas will be covered: developmental skills, instructional approaches; instructional materials and resources. A variety of materials will be available for participants to explore including low to high tech ways to adapt literacy materials.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:Determine if their student is at an emergent or conventional literacy stage. Describe the components of literacy intervention for children with significant disabilities.Explore resources available for literacy interventions.Describe how materials can be adapted for children with significant disabilities.
Notes

Thank you for registering for the "Early Childhood Literacy for Children with Significant Disabilities" workshop on August 22, 2018 at the Chrysalis Center.  Registration will be at 8:30 a.m., and the workshop will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.and will end at 3:00 p.m.

The Chrysalis Center is located at 255 Homestead Avenue in Hartford, CT.  There is parking available on site.
