NGSS for All Students
Grade Levels 6-12

This workshop exposes participants to real teaching scenarios written by the teachers on the NGSS Diversity and Equity Team. Seven case studies are analyzed to identify research- and standards-based classroom strategies through an equity lens to engage various student groups including: (1) economically disadvantaged students, (2) students from major racial and ethnic groups, (3) students with disabilities, (4) English language learners, (5) girls, (6) students in alternative education, and (7) gifted and talented students. Participants will analyze an NGSS lesson to identify challenges and make adjustments to better support all students. Each participant will receive a copy of Okhee Lee's "NGSS For All Students" book.

Things to know -

Make sure you have your photo ID when entering CREC facilities.
Workshop registration does not include breakfast or lunch. Please feel free to bring your own food and beverage or visit the CREC Central Café (111 Charter Oak Ave.) which offers a variety of breakfast and lunch options with daily specials.
Bring a refillable water bottle and/or beverage.
Bring a laptop or other electronic device (some workshops require only laptop) for note taking and access to online resources.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the workshop.
Sometimes workshop room temperatures can vary so we suggest you dress in layers.
