Universal Design for Learning and NGSS
The Next Generation Science Standards are deemed “standards for all.” As course and lesson designers, how do we create learning opportunities in science classrooms to embody the inclusive philosophy and nature of the standards? Understanding and implementing Universal Design for Learning principles into the learning design process will bring the accessibility to lessons as the standards intend.
Objectives
Goals for this workshop are the following: *To understand the learning science behind the NGSS *To become familiar with UDL guidelines *To identify potential barriers in NGSS lessons and units and use strategies to make them more aligned with UDL
